This experience has brought French and British scholars closer to achieving their professional goals and entrenched firm foundations for lasting relationships between France and the UK.
About us
The Entente Cordiale Scholarship Scheme is a prestigious bi-lateral awards scheme that funds French postgraduate students who want to study in the UK, and British students who want to study in France. Funded by the private sector in both countries the scheme provides scholarships for about 20 French and British students each year.
Its ambition is not only to enable the most outstanding students of both countries to study or carry out research for a year on the other side of the Channel, but also to promote contacts and increase exchanges between tomorrow’s decision-makers in the United Kingdom and France and to build an influential and widespread network of alumni and sponsors.
In the 15 years since it was founded more than 400 scholars have already benefited from the scheme and are now working in a diverse range of sectors; from engineering to medicine, arts, architecture, economics and journalism.

EDF Energy is part of the French-owned EDF Group: being an active supporter of the Entente Cordiale scholarships makes sense for us given the ever greater collaboration between the Group and EDF Energy to ensure both countries' long term energy needs are met. Supporting two students with the Entente Cordiale scholarships is a tangible way of helping two young people of top academic calibre to develop their potential and gain a year's work experience in the energy sector.
